Jesus Was Born

It was a moonlight night in Bethlehem
In a manger there, a baby boy was born
This Son of God was entering the world
To face His life of rejection and of scorn

For there were many who would fear Him
While others mocked this Son of our God
So many would call Him an eccentric fool
They hated the ground where He had trod

As a man who lived on this earth one time
He faced many perils each and every day
Judas a disciple, who turned against Jesus
Selling Him out, a few gold coins was his pay

He hung on a cross on that Mount Calvary
Shedding His blood to save us all from sin
This Son of God born in a manger that night
Love Him, let your journey to Heaven begin

A Hallelujah Shout

Tear down the walls of ignornance
Because our dear Savior still lives
He shed His blood for all our sins
Showing this love for us He gives

Go tell it to everyone that will listen
There is a far better place we can go
A land of eternal blessings He gives
To go there our Lord you must know

Ask and He will make you a promise
He will lead you every step of the way
Obey and believe what He tells you
Heaven will be your home some day

Lets wake up all of the non believers
Show then what Heaven is all about
Let them know about that eternal life
Hear them give out a hallelujah shout

Our 31st Anniversary

Time has passed on so very swiftly
Since that day when we were wed
On that cold Saturday in December
Those sacred vows were then said

It's thirty one years since that day
When God united you and I as one
I bless that day and I always shall
Days of being alone were then done

My love for you has grown with time
No one could be in my heart but you
Each day I tell myself that I am lucky
Our marriage is equaled by only a few

Until that day we will go up to Heaven
To walk on that golden shore of sand
My love for you shall never ever waiver
I know this is the way God had it planned

Our Thanksgiving Dinner

Only a skeleton of the turkey remains
Of what was a great scrumptious dinner
With dressing, mashed potatos, and fixings
Janet's cooking produced us another winner

Before the corn, green beans and cranberries
With the turkey, gravy and the great dressing
We all gathered around the old dinner table
It was then that Harry said the great blessing

We sat down to the table with empty feelings
Then we filled up our plates to overflowing
With all the extra helpings I put on my plate
I must have thought I was a boy still growing

Getting up from that table became a big chore
I had eaten so much more than I had thought
Sitting down to watch the pro football game
Relief from this filled up stomach I sought

No Other Way

So many friends have passed on now
To that home that is far away in the sky
Transformed to a life that is now eternal
On this Earth their mortal life had to die

They are now in the arms of our Savior
Ever happy they will feel pain no more
Faithful while living in this sinful world
Believing in Him opened Heaven's door

To join them my heart must be faithful
I too must believe in God and His word
When I enter His Kingdom up in Heaven
I will hear the best greeting ever heard

Those friends will all come to greet me
To welcome me home on that great day
There I will hear their shouts of elation
I believe in God, there is no other way

I Thank Him

So many thanks I owe my precious lord
First of all I thank Him for my lovely wife
I thank Him for taking from me my sins
For allowing me to have a Christian life

I thank Him for the friends I have made
Many kind people He has let me meet
For all of this love He has given to me
Knowing His sweet love can't be beat

He has given a church where I worship
A fine Pastor who has spread His word
A great choir with their voice's blending
Singing Hymns, sweetest I ever heard

So many things I do now thank Him for
Thanksgiving comes to us once a year
But daily I thank the Lord up in Heaven
For all 78 years I have spent down here

Your Home With Him

Wont you meet me up in God's Heaven
All of our friends will be gathering there
There to be with God's Eternal Blessing
Where we will have no fear or any care

Jesus has a great plan for our salvation
He gave up His life to erase all our sin
He is the way and the light that leads us
Believing in Him is the only way to begin

Follow the path He has planned for you
Don't stray, but walk on that perfect line
He will guide you through the hardships
Always look to Him He will show the sign

His love for you is like no other feeling
You know that you will be Heaven bound
When you see Him He will show a smile
Your home with Him you have now found

We Give Him Thanks

After all of our crops are harvested
It is time to give thanks to our Lord
A feast ln His honor will be in order
A blessing, after the coffee is poured

We will thank Him for the great crops
He gave us weather for the food to grow
Never was it too wet nor was it too dry
Food to get us through the Winters snow

Thank Him for Hams and slabs of Bacon
Hanging out in the smokehouse left to cure
He certainly has Blessed us this whole year
For all of this we give thanks to our Savior

With the food now blessed, it is time to eat
Mashed potatos, Gravy and roasted Turkey
Fresh Pumpkin pies with lots of whipped cream
Thoughts of staying on my diet has gone astray

Stand Up For Freedom

From England they sailed the seas in 1620
Pilgrims , seeking a home to worship God
Sailing away from the place they were born
They then found that place on American sod

Building a country upon Christian principals
This country survived with many brave men
Fighting the British rule and the unfair taxes
The United States of America then did begin

They fought two wars to gain their freedom
So many wars they have fought to stay free
However now a small amount of its people
Would take that freedom from you and me

America, stand up for your rights and be free
Go back to the standards our forefathers had
Worship our creator and obey all of the laws
If we don't "God Bless America" was only a fad

Our Fallen

Had I have been at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans day these would be the words I would have said.

With heartfelt thanks we now honor them
These great men and women who lie here
Each has given their life for our freedom
Now they are in our Savior's eternal care

Called to fight for the country they loved
They have given up their life here on Earth
Knowing that they could have stayed home
But if they did what would their life be worth

Not one of these brave souls wanted to die
To protect their families they went to war
Heartaches are felt by the many here today
Knowing on Earth we will see them no more

But take heart my dear friends and relatives
They are waiting in Heaven to see you one day
Be guided by God who is in His Heavenly home
Tell Him you love them tonight when you pray

Gates Of Heaven

Some day when we meet up yonder
We will walk along that Golden strand
There we will see our Lord and Savior
To live forever in God's most Holy land

My heart fills with love thinking of Him
For it is through Him I shall eternally live
He gave us all a way to meet His Father
When on that cross His life He did give

To follow in His footsteps is impossible
For He was the only perfect man on Earth
Try to reach as much perfection as you can
Then a home in Heaven shall be your worth

God loves His children this we should know
He gave up His only son to save us from sin
It is through knowing and believing in Jesus
Those gates of Heaven will open and let us in

A Special Prayer

With the growing season now over
Our storing chores are nearly done
After canning fruits and vegetables
There are lots of meats to be frozen

Thanksgiving is coming very soon
It's the start of the holiday season
We have a tom turkey in the fridge
Lots of company will be the reason

When we all gather around the table
A prayer of Thanksgiving will be said
We will thank the lord for all this food
Then it will be time to break the bread

A special prayer for all the homeless
Should be said on Thanksgiving day
But for the Grace of our God almighty
We might be the ones that are that way

God's Mighty Hand

God's Mighty Hand

In the misty morning as the Sun slowly rises
Wispy spirals of fog cling to the damp ground
A farmer casts a eager eye up toward Heaven
He knows days of dry weather must be found

In a short eight months the mortgage is due
Long days he has put in working on this farm
He knows that if there are no crops this year
Thoughts of losing his home is cause for alarm

He knows the bank has not had a good year
Extending his loan seem to be mighty bleak
Knowing the weather must help him out now
Else another line of work he will have to seek

Again he cast his eyes up to the Heavenly sky
But this time he has a long prayer with God
Lord, he says in a somewhat awkward manner
Please give us weather to dry out this wet sod

It was then God blessed this believing farmer
A bountiful crop brought money to pay off the land
He then prepared a large feast of Thanksgiving
Knowing he had been guided by God's mighty hand

God's Unyeilding Love

If your days be either dark or gloomy
He can make it be cheery and bright
You can call on your blessed Savior
He is with you all days and at night

If you will listen to His great promise
Of an eternal home high up in the sky
Be sure you follow His word and obey
When get to Heaven you will know why

With a home made of beautiful marble
Gold inlay will be seen in every room
Sunshine will fill His Azure Blue sky
Not one day shall we ever see gloom

Up in Heaven everything will be perfect
Designed by that Great Master up above
Happiness will fill our eternal soul there
To be comforted by God's unyeilding love

Follow Him, He will make you whole

He has prepared this home for you

Follow His word and believe in Him
For He is the right and the only way

His Great Kingdom

Today's prayers lead to a promise of tomorrow
If you sincerely believe and obey His every word
He will show you the way to His great Kingdom
Where beauty is seen and sweet music is heard

His Kingdom is filled with peace and tranquility
No wars to be fought, no angry words to be said
His is a world filled with unyielding love eternally
Happiness abounds, so never will we find dread

Up there our hearts will be filled with great pride
Knowing He has let us enter in His place of Glory
Having placed our faith in Him down here on Earth
He will give to us a home that will make us happy

Don't be fooled by non believers thrashings of God
They should be pitied for their ignorance of mind
If we could only convince them of His Holy power
Get them to believe, then they wont be left behind

When that long journey ends
We will rest up there in Heaven

There again to see our brethren

Surrounded by angels singing
Far beyond that distant cloud
We shall see His great throne
Sparkling White in the crowd

For it was He who has saved me
Forgave my sins, made me whole

Knowing through my faith in Him

Eternal Life With Him

Where will you be when that trumpet sounds
That calls God's children to His heavenly home
Will you be among those who have been saved
Or will you be swept away in a firey sea of foam

If you believe and follow His commandments
You will be among those that He calls to Heaven
He will show you a beautiful home that is eternal
Not a land that is ugly and will be forever barren

His is the land where it shall ever be wonderful
No fears or sorrows there will ever come to bear
Peace and tranquility covers His great Kingdom
For faith in Him, He will give us a home up there

Why would anyone choose not to worship Him
Surely they know His is the only way we can win
When He calls His flock up to His Heavenly home
It is then that our eternal life with Him can begin

As a fiery Sunset fades in the Western sky
Night does then bring darkness to this land
Twenty four hours and it will happen again
It's time that was set by God's mighty hand

He gave to us the night time for sleeping
Daytime, He gave us light to do our work
He knows where every second is spent
Matching the time of day like clockwork

He is the complete master of the universe
Controlling what is done down here on Earth
He will show us the sting of death one day
Just like He gave a certain day for our birth

Praise be to our blessed Lord and Master
For He has provided a way for eternal life

Shawnee

Shawnee

Down throughout these long years
God has carved out a beautiful valley
Flowing through it is the Ohio river
This is home to many people like me

This valley once saw tribes of Indians
One of these tribes was the Shawnee
Ousted by the settlers who moved in
Their land was taken and they did flee

Today we remember this Indian tribe
We named a forest in their memory
In Portsmouth there is a fine college
It's name is Shawnee State University

There are still arrowheads and hatchets
Found where there once was a battleground
So sad the Indians were driven from here
Today only the name of Shawnee is found

Idolatry

Someone said they were so thrilled
Meeting Michael Jackson on that day
Would they be overwhelmed to see God
I wonder if those people know how to pray

When they idolize a man in the flesh
It is this sin, idolatry that they commit
When they worship this Earthern man
It is our Heavenly Father they will forget

Jackson's songs can't lead you to Heaven
Maybe his songs will not be heard up there
I know some may have liked them on Earth
But in Heaven for his songs most wont care

Put away all this idolizing of Michael Jackson
Although he is dead you wont let him go away
You know he also must stand in front of our Lord
Only God will judge him on the judgement day

We can see it waving,this flag of glory
Unceasing, never to fail it will surely fly
Men and women have given up their life
To make sure our freedom will never die

Many people admire her, but others hate
Flying with honor showing undying pride
Red, White, and Blue make up her colors
High up in the breeze will this flag ever ride

Many battles she has seen in her lifetime
At times she has been battered and torn
Withstanding perils of those who are evil
We now know why this banner was born

Showing freedom for all of us that love her
May God ever guide her on the right path
Show how a peace loving country like ours
Can still meet all of her enemies with wrath

Show her colors on this fourth day of July
Be proud of this country in which we live
Be prepared to defend her honor and glory
Thank her for this freedom she has to give

His Old Fiddle

I remember an elderly man, back some years ago who played the fiddle. His name was Acie Neal. To him I dedicate this poem. Although I knew nothing about his finances, most of this is fact.
I know he is playing his fiddle in Heaven today.

His Old Fiddle

Music flowing from his fiddle was amazing
His shaggy hair was so crumpled and gray
He played with the touch of younger man
His playing was the best, many would say

In younger days he played at the dances
So smooth as they danced across the floor
He was full of energy at that time of his life
At four in the morning he would play more

Today he plays at the church he attends
You might say he is playing for the Lord
Living out life on a Social Security check
His fiddle is the only thing he can afford

He knows that his life soon will be over
Ever in his mind he has this one riddle
When the angels sing up there in Heaven
Will God allow him to play his old fiddle

Brilliant stars are hanging in the sky
Millions of miles up from our planet
We can see them and wonder why

We are a small part of the universe
Our Sun is another of the bright stars
I wonder do those Suns have planets
Like our Sun has a planet we call Mars

When God created all of His universe
He had it planned out in every detail
He made a perfect path for everything
This way He knew it could never fail

He has also made a path for us to walk
It leads to His home in Heaven on high
Confess all sins, love, and believe Him
He will show you that right path to try

On this glorious Tuesday morning
We can see the Sun shining bright
With the darkness now faded away
Gone from a dark and gloomy night

We can hear a rooster as he crows
He brings to us another great day
Farmers will till their rich soil today
While the children will run and play

Across the creek we can hear a train
It's whistle blows so loud and clear
It's sound echoing from the hillside
Makes the appearance that it is near

What a beautiful day God has given
Full Green growth of the trees we see
Flowers in bloom and a big Blue sky
He deserves thanks from you and me

Tonight by your bedside don't forget
To tell Him in a lengthy trueful prayer
Just how much you love and trust Him
Until that day you meet Him up there

Her Picture

I know this is a very sad poem, but it was written as I thought about a friend of mine and what he must have gone through. When we think of death as just something we must go through to live in that Eternal City it doesn't seem all that bad.

Sitting there on the old night stand
Lovely when that picture was taken
Why she died he can't understand

So happy they had been together
With love flowing deep in the heart
Today he must face the world alone

An emptyness is filling his life now
Alone for the first time in many years
Times he sits in there in the darkness
With a rush comes the flowing tears

He prays to almighty God each night
That he again will be with her up there
To see her smile and to hug her again

That Old House

Every once in a while I think of the old house in which I was born. The old house burned several years ago, but I still enjoy going back there and think of time past.

That Old House

I can remember that old White frame house
It sat in a clearing up a hollow about a mile
I was born in it over seventy eight years ago
Thinking back to that time brings a me smile

There was no inside plumbing or electricity
But home it was to a family numbering six
Sure some of the children made fun of us
They said we came from back in the sticks

Care free days we had back in those days
Raising a big garden for most of the food
In those days if you had extra you shared it
Perhaps to a widow who had a large brood

That old house is gone, burning years ago
About twenty years ago I drove back there
Thinking of how my Mother brought us up
I paused and went to our Lord in a prayer

So much has the world changed since then
With an air conditioning our homes a must
Cable TV and a big screen TV now we have
But still, in our Heavenly Savior we do trust

Grandmother's Roses

Years ago most people used latticwork instead of a trellis to hold climbing roses. This is a poem about my dear grandmother and her roses.

Some of the latticework is still standing
That was nailed to the garage years ago
I can still remember the beautiful roses
That grandmother did so skillfully grow

No modern fertilizer would ever she use
She used a secret that was all her own
No Roses could compare in these days
Like the ones grandmother had grown

Fragrance was so sweet from her roses
So special, it's one you can't find today
Grandmother never thought of it as work
She thought that it was like child's play

Grandmother is gone now like the roses
They died shortly after she passed away
I wonder if they may have grieved to death
As I look at that old latticework here today

A cool breeze welcomes the night air
Another hot humid day has passed by
Trees now thrive with full Green foliage
Rain still falls from a clouded Gray sky

No mowing today and the grass is tall
Mold spores lie on a dank wet ground
Crops can't grow because it's too wet
It seems that Sunshine can't be found

If the rain does stop will it be for long
Would the ground become a dry mess
Where plants could no longer survive
Right now we don't need more but less

Man cannot control these rains today
I think I have the idea but I'm not sure
God knew if He allowed us to control it
I might want less while you want more

Have you ever sat on a White beach as the Sun was sinking in the West? I don't think I have seen a more tranquil sight. It is so relaxing.

In the evenings twilight glow we will walk
Along the winding seacoast's white sand
Barefoot, we leave the imprints of our feet
Upon this beautiful God landscaped land

We hear the singing of the night birds
When they whistle their nighttime tunes
We have this feeling of quiet relaxation
As we sit atop of one of the sand dunes

A fire on this beach would feel so good
As the night air has turned a little chilly
We find driftwood aplenty on the beach
A beach that is clean and full of beauty

God has created this lovely beach for us
Treat it and Him with your greatest respect
When it came to creating this world for us
So perfect, no single part did He neglect

So don't forget to tell Him how you feel
In your prayers that you pray this night
Ask Him for atonement for all your sins
Believe in Him and things will be alright

The quietness of this early Sunday morning
Is only broken by the cooing of a White Dove
Mourning is the sound of this lonesome bird
Seems as she has been deserted by her love

Then soon I hear the cooing of another bird
Who seems to be lost in his morning flight
Suddenly with dart of wing he flies to her
He had lost her in the darkness of the night

Frantically he had searched for his mate
All night he hunted without her in his sight
As came the first glimmer of the morning
He found her, now everything is all right

They coo together in the sparkling morning
With the Sun raising up in the Eastern sky
God has brought these lovers back together
I neither ask or need to know the reason why

Judus The Betrayer

I guess things haven't changed all that much since back in time. Today you may be betrayed by a friend for much less than 30 pieces of silver. I know God must be disgusted by the actions of many today. May your day be filled with joy and thoughts of goodiness toward your neighbors. God bless

Judas The Betrayer

Of His apostles there were twelve
Of those, betrayers there was one
Judas was that betrayer of Jesus
He thought a fortune he had won

He had evil thoughts toward Jesus
Telling the Romans he would deliver
Jesus to them after the feast that night
For the sum of thirty pieces of silver

Thirty pieces of silver bought Judas
Jesus knew what Judas would do
He then allowed Judas to betray Him
He knew Judas wasn't trusted and true

Today too many have no trust in God
Their minds are twisted by the devil
This demon is the one that they worship
He fills their minds with thoughts of evil

How many Judas could we find today
Pretending that they are a good friend

Its Our Birthdays

Each year I try to write a poem about our birthdays. Yesterday was mine, the 5th of June, today is my sweet wife's.

Tho we have spent thirty birthdays together
These years have rapidly passed and gone
It seems as though five years pass as one
It has been a real pleasure as time rolls on

With my birthday the fifth, yours the sixth
We usually celebrate them the same day
Perhaps it will be a dinner at O'Charley's
Or find a new restaurant not too far away

It is with your love that my life is complete
Each day brings happiness into my heart
With all of our faith in our Holy Redeemer
That in our lives God now plays a big part

May our time together on Earth be long
But in Heaven we will live through eternity
Two children of God to be forever together
My sweet wife Janet and I shall always be

City Of Gold

We had several violent storms here in Southern Ohio this past week, but today looks like a top ten day. A very good day to attend church and have lunch out. Have the greatest day.

City Of Gold

When the Sun lights up the Eastern sky
Dawn will then break into a beautiful day
Rains of the past week has been heavy
Now this bright Sun will chase them away

Sparkling green is the grass on the lawn
Still wet from the storm we had last night
Bolts of wicked lightning filled a black sky
Filling the little children with dreaded fright

As the storm passed into a longed for past
All is quiet on this clear and lovely Sunday
Soon the Church bells will ring a welcome
For all to attend Church services this day

Into the house of the Lord we will gather
To hear the message our Pastor will deliver
His message will be straight from the Bible
Showing us God is not a taker but a giver

He will give us eternal life if we will listen
To all of the commandment he has told
Love and believe in all of His Holy words
If you want to live up in that City of Gold

Night Animals

Did you ever sit in a porch swing on a Summer night and hear all of the noises of insects and night birds? Sometime they sound as if they are singing in harmony. Other times it seems as it is nothing but noise.

On this stuffy hot summer evening
Only night creatures can be heard
Crickets are calling to their mates
On a hill there is a whippoorwill bird

A night Owl screeches a loud hoot
A small field mouse will be his prey
It's not aware of its impending doom
So the small mouse continues to play

Wrestling around in the dry leaves
Two young Opposums start to fight
So restless waiting for their mother
It is pitch black this moonless night

God created these night creatures
Same as He created both you and me
Enjoy the sounds of the night animals
They sing a song of night and it is free

So many people in this sinful world are concerned with the material things in life and try to grab everything they can. Have you ever heard of them leaving this world with this loot?

When I leave this old sinful world
My home up in Heaven shall I see
There I'll find peace and serenity
It is there God will ever set me free

Free of the bondage of this world
Where so many evils we have seen
Squabbling about the land or money
Using tactics with their heart unclean

Up in Heaven all of that will vanish
Everyone there will be your friend
Smiling faces will be seen every day
Living a life there that never will end

Why would anyone settle for less
When they know God forgives all sin
Ask today for forgiveness to our Lord
With love in His heart He will let you in

He has colored all of the sky Blue
He has colored all the grass Green
He has colored all the many flowers
With all colors that are in between

His stroke better than Rembrandts
No flaws can be seen in His work
Be it the clouds over the mountain
Or a Brown Trout down in the brook

We see Deer standing in the Snow
Their Brown coats show up the White
So exacting are all of His paintings
He seems to get all of them just right

Tho the colors here are so dazzling
They must pale with those up there
For we know He has saved the best
For His home that's high up in the air

With the arrival of another Sunday, it is time to go over to the church we attend.Having written this a few minutes before attending the morning services, I must now get ready to attend SHBC, or Shawnee Hills Baptist Church. May your day be blessed.

Brightness of a new day beginning
Wakes up the sleepiness within me
Sun shining brightly this morning
Not one cloud in the sky can I see

Arising from the fog of deep sleep
I am up to see another beautiful day
Soon I will be off to attend church
I know God wants it to be this way

Once again see our flock gathered
Hear the preaching of Pastor Ken
As he tells of what the Bible says
It's teachings from away back then

Enjoyment as we hear the choir
Singing in their excellent harmony
Song I like best of all that they sing
I think would be "Abide With Me"

When all of the services are over
Handshakes and smiles you will see
At the door is our Pastor Ken smiling
SHBC that is the one that's for me

For some life is but a very short time. While others may life well past one hundred. Since we have no idea when our time will come doesn't it make good sense to be prepared for that time? Trust God !

Brought on to this Earth by our Creator
We live on the unyielding wings of time
We never know how long our span of life
Some short, others live past their prime

From birth our days must be numbered
In the great book kept up there in the sky
If you know your precious Lord and Savior
There is no reason to know when or why

If you know the Lord and HIs teachings
Follow His words all of the way to the end
You will know that He is waiting for you
No message will He have need to send

For He will take you up to His Kingdom
With all of the other believers of His power
To await all of those love ones from Earth
Who will have the victory for all of their valor

Our Friend Joe

I first met Joe and his wife Nancy several years ago. We would go to Shawnee State University and have a good walk in the gym, then go in the pool and swim for a while. Like Joe, several of our friends, (called the Golden Bears) has passed on. I think it just goes to show our life us like the twinkling of an eye in God's great scheme for us. I know I shall see Joe in Heaven.
May God Bless Joe's lovely wife Nancy and the rest of his family.

We all mourn the loss of him today
One day we will be with our friend
Listen to what the Bible has to say

He was a friend, a husband,a father
So pleasant in his manner every day
With a smile and a twinkle in his eye
It was a pleasure to know him that way

I know we all will miss our dear friend
A void it will leave in our life each day
Tho we know his home is much better
Since our Dear Lord called him away

Just remember our loss is God's gain
He will wait along the Golden Shore
For all of his friends and dear family
Then together they will be once more

A Christian Life and I Thank God

Sorry I haven't posted a couple of my newest poems, as I have had problems with this old worn out ( like me) computer. But with God's grace it is now working. I wanted to write something for My sweet departed Mother, so I wrote I Thank God.

A Christian Life

With his aged dim eyes he reads his Bible
He had read it at least a hundred times over
Each time he read it he had learned more
Starting with Genesis he read it cover to cover

When he was just a young man he met God
His life he knew must be to serve Him well
Working as a youth Pastor he convinced kids
How an evil life leads down the pathway to hell

It was at that time he met a beautiful young lady
He courted her and soon he had won her heart
As they were married on that warm June evening
They made a vow only death could keep them apart

As the years rolled by so swiftly in their marriage
Three children were born and had Christian ties
Two sons became Doctors and their girl a nurse
Deep into their heart their love of God still lies

Just over three years ago came that horrible night
When God called his wife to His home in the sky
Heartbroken, he thought God had foresaken him
When reunited up in Heaven, God will tell him why

I Thank God

I remember those bitter cold Winter days
When she would walk to work in the snow
Deep down in my heart I so dearly loved her
But back then how much I just didn't know

In Heaven I will put my arms around her
Tell her many things I am sure she knew
Love for my dear sweet mother was there
Started when I was a baby and daily it grew

Within a day or two I will go to the cemetery
I will visit her grave and decorate it once again
Feeling I will have as I stand by her headstone
I know will be with sadness and heartfelt pain

I thank God she is in a place where I will see her
When I join our family high up in the Heavenly sky
All of our questions will be answered by our Lord
But to gain that eternal life we must be ready to die

As I walk along in the mornings dense fog
I have a feeling of Him walking beside me
Anxiously I listen for words He might say
I know only He can set my sinful soul free

I smile as I know He has a place waiting
He has made for us high up into the sky
His is an eternal Kingdom there waiting
There we will never wonder how or why

It is written on the pages of the Bible
Of how Jesus died on that old cross
He took all our sins that terrible day
Saving us for from a Heavenly loss

As the fog slowly drifts up to the skies
I no long feel His presence by my side
After instilling the Holy Spirit within me
He knows to all His words I shall abide

Rely On God

I was thinking of the many foods we can gather without having to put much work into it. Honey of course is one, greens ,mushrooms, fruit from a tree in your yard, the list is endless. God gives us all these things and we seldom thank Him for them. Think about it.

In the early morning, dew is on a Rose
Caressing tender pedals of her bloom
Waking her from the dark of the night
Yawning she emits her sweet perfume

Soon Honey Bees will take her nectar
Then fly to their hive in a Beech tree
To fill the wax cones that they made
With delicious Honey for you and me

God has made so many tasty foods
You can find them by looking around
Many are up in trees or in the water
Some are seen growing in the ground

Rely on God for He will provide for us
Be hungry for our Lord's precious word
Be prepared to ascend up to Heaven
As the sound of the Trumpet is heard

It is so sad that some of the people in this world have a false idol to whom they worship. Without any doubt I know our God, and what He will do for us.


He Is Ever With Us

Be it in the brightness of a morning Sun
Or be it in the darkest hour of the night
His eyes will ever be vigilantly upon us
Always letting us know wrong from right

He is with us even tho we are sleeping
Knowing every thought that's on our mind
He took all our sins as if they are His own
Jesus Christ, who is so precious and kind

We know all the world is not in agreement
With whom the Supreme Deity is this day
However we know our God is up in Heaven
He is our God who we will honor and obey

When the end comes to this sad old world
Too many people in the pit of Hell will burn
Too late it will be for those who aren't saved
Too bad, lessons from God they didn't learn

God has blessed these lovely Shawnee Hills
Land of flowers and with so much rare beauty
Springtime brings us many magnificent colors
Giving all of this enjoyment to both you and me

First we can see the Crocus and the Daffodil
Followed by many beautiful colored flowers
Tulips with their heady blooms of varied tint
Start to bloom from the early Spring showers

Azaleas and Rhododendrons are delightful
With many colors to brighten up this land
White and Pink Dogwood with the Redbud
Makes these hills come alive and are grand

Tho these hills are not as lovely as Heaven
They will suffice until we all gather up there
In His beautiful land that has no comparision
It is up there He will give us His eternal care

Primetimers

At our church we have a group of seniors called the Primetimers. We meet once a month and really have a lot of fun. We have been thinking of maybe taking short trips to see things of interest.

Always friendly with a smile on their face
Enjoying their life as good people of faith
They know they are living in God's grace

Having dinner together is much pleasure
Be it eating out or at the church basement
A group that has so much good character
Mild in manner and so nice and pleasant

It is with happiness we meet each month
There are times when I wish we met more
I know time restraints may not allow us to
But it might be someting we can explore

Janet and I are happy to be primetimers
We get to associate with ones of our age
Meeting and having such great fellowship

So many precious memories we have of the long time past. Isn't it wonderful God allows us to retain the memories, so we can go back and relive them in our mind.

Right To The Letter

Weeds have over grown that little church
That I attended those many long years ago
It seemed if the younger people didn't care
It grew when the older people couldn't mow

God had been in that church so many times
I could feel His presence there way back then
It was kept painted white and was very clean
Sitting there near the brook on a wooded glen

Memories I have of that little church are many
Of Sunday school and services that followed
Of the galvenized bucket that sat by the door
Taking a drink it was spring water we swallowed

In Winter time a pot belly stove gave the heat
Some of the men sawed up big chunks of wood
Making that old stove become a glowing Red
Everyone tried to stay warm as best they could

We don't see a church like that one these days
They have passed for what some think is better
But all of the religion taught at the little church
Followed the our precious Bible right to the letter

Isn't it wonderful how in the blink of an eye a sinner can become a believer? How a lost soul finds their way. Believe in God, there is no other way.

Many times he passed that little church
There were times he thought of going in
Seemed he could always find an excuse
Still he knew he had been living in sin

One stormy night he had been drinking
He began to look for a place that was dry
He stumbled into the little church that night
Some of the congregation wondered why

Words he heard that night sobered him up
Tears had welled up in his bloodshot eyes
Asking God to forgive him for all his sins
Now the congregation has no more whys

He is a Deacon in that little church today
God had forgiven all of his sins that night
His heart is full of love for his dear Savior
He thanks God for making all things right

With all the beauty of a late April morning my heart keeps going back to God. I tell Him how much I love the colors of Springtime. But I also wonder what the beauty of Heaven will show.

Above all to Him you must be true

He will listen to all of your troubles
Obey Him as He tells you what to do
All questions are answered in Heaven
Remember how much God loves you

Where forever in eternity we shall live
Tell Him how much you believe in Him
It is this eternal life to you He will give

Confess your sins, He will forgive them
For on that cross He died to save us all
Be ready to make that journey to Heaven

Have you said a prayer this morning
Did you tell Him of your undying love
Confessed to Him all of your past sins
Tell Him you want to see Him up above

Don't wait too late to ask for forgiveness
Tell Him you give your all to Him this day
Tell Him of the love for Him in your heart
Be true and believe, this is the only way

Call on Him, you know He will ever listen
His children are most precious to our Lord
Return these feelings to Him and then know
It is through Him, Heaven we can afford

May all the tomorrows be spent with Him
In that City He created in the skies above
Live there in eternal bliss with the angels
In Heaven, a place that is filled with love

What a picture perfect day here in Southern Ohio. Much like every day will be in Heaven. A great day to mow the church lawn, which I will do this afternoon.

I shall walk on Golden streets
Without a penny in my pocket
For there I won't need money
For a great and grand banquet

No credit cards shall we have
For everything up there is free
No autos will be seen up there
No polluted air will we ever see

Everything there is so perfect
God created Heaven that way
No stress or worry is up there
Strolling on Heavens pathway

What exuberance overfills us
As our loving Lord we will see
With a heart full of love for Him
Love lasting through all eternity

When the tides of time have passed
On this old Earth no longer will I be
I will walk on the seasides of Heaven
There I will pray with bended knee

My Earthly life will be over and done
My eternal life will then have it's start
I will kneal at the feet of sweet Jesus
Tell Him of the love thats in my heart

Thank Him for everything He has done
Dying on the cross to take our sins away
Tortured and made to carry that cross
Even His garment was stolen that day

It is with all of my love that I can muster
I have for my Great Savior on this day

I have often heard that money is the root of all evil. I guess it must be. People will do anything for money, even kill.

Brought into this world without wealth
Everyone shall leave it the same way
For not one penny will buy us eternity
Gold can't help on the Judgement day

A fool who hoards his money in life
Has no use for it when death arrives
Funny how some think without riches
There is no way their soul survives

Riches doesn't measure a man's worth
Even if he has treasures thats untold
God will measure what you have done
That can't be paid by any of your Gold

God does not have need for riches
In Heaven everything needed is free
This will be our home for all eternity
He made it this way for you and me

As he cast his eyes toward Heaven
He has clasped together his hands
Lord, he asked when my life is gone
Can I enter into your Heavenly lands

He knew he had been a awful sinner
Drinking, chasing women and such
Back in the days when he was young
He hadn't thought about it very much

Today he is much older and now wiser
He wonders why he had waited so long
Thinking as he approached the church
Tears fell hearing the choir sing a song

Today he confessed everything to God
He asked to be forgiven for all his sins
Feeling relief from all of these burdens
It's now his journey to Heaven begins

A beautiful day here in Southern Ohio today. With Easter coming Sunday, wash the kids ears and load up the car and attend Easter services at your church.

I can hear those Golden Bells ringing
As that band of Angels keeps singing
Singing songs of hallelujah to our King
To my heart I feel the love He is bringing

To be with Him up in His Heavenly Home
Brings my emotions up to a fever pitch
I pray for forgiveness for my Earthly sins
Hoping He saves me, I am such a wretch

Days on Earth I look up to the sky to see
Only a few scattered clouds in a big Blue sky
Knowing that Heaven is up there somewhere
I can't see it and sometimes I wonder why

When God is ready for me to see His world
Angels, He will send to show me on that day
From this sinful world in which I now live
To a world that is so perfect in every way

Gift Of Life

If we only knew back then what a carefree life we had I think we would have enjoyed childhood even better. Today things are so much different. What has happened to the country? I know as a boy of 6 or 8 years of age I could hitchhike a ride and nothing happened but a nice ride to where I was going. But today I wouldn't think of picking up a stranger for fear of being killed. Time have surely changed.

In the quiet of a misty Spring morning
I marvel at all the beauty that I can see
A single drop of dew is on a Red Tulip
Like a lonely teardrop it appears to me

I hear a dog barking as a boy walks by
There is a smile upon his cherubic face
Like an angel he gracefully treads on
He is in no hurry to speed up his pace

It is then my mind drifts back to youth
I dream about my childhood back then
When I was a barefoot boy I remember
Fishing in a small creek over at the glen

Isn't it wonderful God lets us be a youth
When we find our troubles to be very few
If to have an untroubled mind as an adult
Just let the Holy Spirit become part of you

This morning I walk in the garden alone
Glistening clear dew I see on the flowers
They bloom so magnificently in all colors
In this tranquil setting I could sit for hours

Beautiful Roses remind me of our Lord
Love that I have for both shall never dim
Brilliant Reds are the ones that stand out
All of them to me are like a perfect gem

Aroma of a the Lilac fills the morning air
Two birds are busy building their nest
A gentle breeze rustles leaves in a Maple
This is my vision of Springtime at it's best

We should never forget to thank our Lord
For all the beauty He made for you and me
For without all the colors I see here today
What a dreary looking world this would be

Resurection Flower

I am not sure of what the real name of this flower is, but I have heard it called the Resurection Flower. In Early Spring it grows up in a clump of green blades like a lily would have. Then after a while the plant starts to die. I then mow it with my mower. Then one day they pop back through the ground with a white stem and a beautiful light Pink flower. If anyone know its name please ley me know.

From Red to faded Violet in bloom

A bee will carry back into the hive
I know that God know how and why

It is such a beautiful Sat. morning here in Southern Ohio. The Sun is bright and the birds are singing. Grass has been mowed for the week and it is looking good. I thank God for this wonderful day.

All the hills are alive with God's wonder
Beautiful are Spring flowers that we see
God alone knows all the secrets of growing
From a blade of grass up to a tall Oak tree

Spotted are the hillsides with rare beauty
Dogwood and Redbud steal the scene away
Colorful Tulips are in bloom in the gardens
As the Sun is making it a most perfect day

Spring must be God's favorite season I think
This time when He resurrects life once again
Up from the sleep of a cold static Wintertime
Then they are to be revived by a warm April rain

How much more perfect could He make Spring
I see no imperfections in anything He has made
I am sure that there is more beauty in Heaven
This I will see after in the cold ground I am laid

Will you be prepared to meet your judgement day
Have you treated your neighbor with great respect
Walked on the straight and the narrow all of the way

Have you shown God all the love you have for Him
Is every prayer that you pray to Him, honest and true
You must if you want to live up in that glorious land
This decision to honor and obey Him is left up to you

If you find you must alter your way of living to please Him
Could this be a hard thing for you to do in your own way
You know he has taken all the sins you have committed in life
He did that when He died on the old rugged cross that day

Be thankful for Jesus Christ for He is your blessed Savior
It is only through Him that you can live your life eternally
Up in that wonderful land that He made high up in the sky

Beauty lies within that City

Eternally I Will Reside

After a day of much needed rain everything looks so clean and refreshing. The buds are popping on the trees and soon all of the landscape will be green. This is the time of the year God has all of the plants starting to come alive. My favorite time of the year. May God Bless you and yours.

When I face my last day on Earth
A seaside mansion is waiting for me
With inlaid platinum, gold and silver
It shall be my home for all eternity

God has made me a great promise
If I am ever trueful, faithful, and kind
Follow and respect all His teachings
A home up in Heaven I will then find

A place filled with love for everyone
For it is ruled by God our great King
He loves everything He has created
This love to my heart He does bring

What a day of rejoicing we will have
When we gather there at God's side
See all the beauty that He has made

I am convinced that if the people that run our goverment would return to the principals that made this country great, we once again would find Grace from our dear Savior.

Easter is fast approaching and the drudgery of Winter will soon pass. It seems like it has been a long cold winter. God will soon paint the landscape with Springs beauty.

Lillies are the flowers of Easter
Day after Jesus Christ had died
On Calvary's Hill that sad day
People that so loved Him cried

Taken to a tomb they sealed
With a huge bolder that day
Next morning as they looked
That bolder had rolled away

His Earthly body was now gone
Ascending high up into the sky
Those still living here on Earth
Were wondering where and why

He had ascended to a mansion
Built by our dear precious God
Your home too can be in Heaven
After they lay you under the sod

You must put your trust in our God
Confess to Him sins that you have done
Then obey each of His commandments
If your victory in Heaven is to be won

Looks like we will be going back to what March weather should be here in Southern Ohio. It was great while it lasted.

Some days we wonder where He has gone
He should be here when our need is great
Aches and pain can wrack this fragil body
I know He is here by me, ever will He wait

I think back to what His son had endured
I feel so petty with my minor aches and pain
Knowing what He must have gone through
With all of His suffering, to me it is so plain

He was nailed to the cross for all of our sins
His blood will wash those sins from your soul
But remember what you must do to be sin free
Love and obey Him, then He will make you whole

There is a precious God up in the Heavens above
He hears every uttered word, knows every thought
His compelling love is sweet and so overflows me
I know He is the way, this is the way I was taught

What a beautiful weekend for early March. God has given us a preview of Spring. Looks so good after the long cold Winter we have seen.

Do you know who gave this life to you
Do you think you just happened to be
I know who put life in this body I have
It was God who put the breath in me

He took some dust and created man
It is not what some foolish men do say
Evolving from some kind of an animal
Those people will have a price to pay

In the Bible it tells all of the true facts
How Adam was the first created man
God knew Adam needed a companion
With a rib from Adam He made woman

God can create anything He wants to
From the highest mountain to the sea

We have a great friend in Jesus
He will take all of your sins away
Find comfort in all His teachings
They will lead to Heaven one day

He is the son of our almighty God
He died to take away all of our sin
A cruel death upon that old cross
So a place in Heaven we could win

His love will fill you to overflowing
It is up to you to give love in return
But if you turn your back on Jesus
It will be in hell's fire you will burn

If all of the world lived as they should and found peace in God, wouldn't this be a great world. Sadly this isn't to be.

With the world's economy in such shambles
God up in Heaven must be shaking His head
To see the masses losing their place of work
Many now have given up and live with dread

He knows it was started by the greed of man
Their lust for the all mighty greenback Dollar
Has brought all of the poor men to their knees
Squeezing every dime from him they can collar

Is giving these institutions money the answer
Big bonuses have overextended the cash flow
Should poor people now have to bail them out
Is that the way their hard earned money will go

God saw all of this coming right from the start
When they no longer spoke His name in glory
Bar His teachings within all our public schools
He must find sadness in all of the world's folly

If only here in America we all could remember
On all of the principals this country was found
God at that time was revered by all the people
If we still loved Him our fortunes would abound

Refreshing are the thoughts of Spring
When grass turns from Brown to Green
As the Daffodils show their Yellow bloom
This becomes Springs first lovely scene

Soon we will see Red Bud and Dogwood
Green leaves will be growing on the trees
Wild flowers will be seen on the hillsides
A sight to most all eyes will surely please

So comforting are the days of early Spring
It seems as if the whole world is coming alive
We can see Blooms are bursting out all over
I thank God warm weather soon will arrive

Gone will be the doldrums of a nasty Winter
Bland hills will soon show their Green mantle

Although Janet and I have no children, so no grandchildren. But I do see the happiness in grandparents faces.

To see the innocence in a babys eyes
Makes one wonder what do they think
Unaware of any of the world problems
They stay warm and have milk to drink

From the nest they will then depart
Looking for a mate to make their life
Winning one boys or one girls heart

Then they will look at their own baby

We will never know what they think
It does give you a thought to ponder

God created man to grow and multiply

Every scrape of platinum found on Earth
When he faces that final judgement day
We wonder what his soul might be worth

He must account for the way he acquired it
These riches he had gotten in all his days
If he done things contrary to God's word
There is no way to Heaven his riches pays

Earthly riches might be impressive to some
To God it is not worth much more than dirt
Greed to accrue the wealth of some others
Might cause that victim's family to be hurt

Be happy when you get the love of Jesus
For His love is worth more than any wealth
Be thankful and pray to the our Lord above

I think all boys (men) have a special feeling for their mother. My mother was no exception. She has been gone now nearly 20 years, but the thoughts of her will never leave me until I see her again in Heaven.

It is not too often today that you find a church where all the members pull together. I am happy to say the church my wife and I belong to is this kind of a church. I don't think I have ever seen a more friendly group anywhere.

No matter if I walk on the hills or valleys
My Savior will walk every where with me
He guides my pathway onward to Heaven
His beautiful city that one day I shall see

He is a friend who cheers my ever day
His love puts joy deep within my soul

If one day the Holy Spirit he does meet

Although I know I don't have that many years remaining, it hurts to see what is happening to the land of the free. Our country seems to be sliding down a pathway of destruction and few people seem to care.

I now wonder what our future might bring
Seems as everthing we buy is foreign made
Our economy certainly is feeling the sting

What has happened to us must be greed
How do they think we can buy without a job
Most of the big stores are buying from China
At one time it was a country we used to snob

We know bickering will not solve the problem
There are many things that we should do
Getting back to ideas that made this country
We need to bring God back in our lives too

Too bad some have lost the religious principle
A thought this great country was founded on
If the powers to be don't wake up very soon
They will find our country has faded and gone

God Is Everything

We have had some high winds the past couple of days. Many people lost their power. We are lucky we have a natural gas generator that keeps our power on. Last night it flickered a couple of time but never went off.
Thank our wonderful God no injuries happened as far as I know. Just material damage.

On this picture perfect February morning
A brilliant Sun lights up the Eastern sky
Melting frost that was painted last nigh
tSoon Spring will cause the Winter to die

Beautiful Spring will bring us the flowers
Our hills will come alive with Green trees
I know God made Spring after the Winter
To make it warm after the Winter's freeze

He carefully planned each of the seasons
A time to plant the crops and a time to reap
A time to store what is needed in the Winter
Knowing what we will eat and what to keep

There is a cycle of life for all our foodstuffs
Unlike that life that God gave to each man
Only one life shall we have here on Earth
But God has given us an everlasting plan

If you believe and trust in our dear Savior
An eternal life He has there waiting for you
