The Answer To It All

When I was lost and without hope
I heard a voice that seemed to call
From the depths of this lost hope
It said Jesus is the answer to it all

On bended knees I started to pray
To the Lord and Master up above
Save this soul from the fire of hell
Fill my heart with everlasting love

When this life on Earth is then over
He will give me a home for eternity
Where I will find peace and comfort
God has built a home for you and me

If some day you need to see a friend
One who you know will ever be on call
His home awaits you high up in Heaven
You will find Jesus is the answer to it all

The Greatest Story

I want to walk with Jesus one bright day
It would be the greatest thing I could do
Just to know I walked and talked to him
In His Heavenly home way out in the blue

I know one day I shall meet Him there
Where the Sun always light up the way
No darkness shall we see up in Heaven
Soon my eyes will see that glorious day

God sent His only Son to this cruel Earth
To hang on a cross to cancel out our sin
He stands by those portals up in Heaven
Repent your sin and He will invite you in

God has made it possible to be with Him
Up where the streets are paved with Gold
If you will read the Holy Bible and believe
His is the greatest story that has been told

Easter Sunday

It is with much sadness they watched Him
Carrying a tree that would bring Him death
Soldiers even gambled for all His garments
They wouldn’t even wait for His last breath

Our Savior was crucified that dreadful day
Hanging on the cross they made Him carry
Up the side of a mount they called Calvary
Hitting Him each time He seemed to tarry

He gave His life so we could go to Heaven
Taking our sins as if they were His to bear
Enduring all of the pain they gave to Him
All that time there He shed not one tear

When His blood had drained from His body
A death the Roman soldiers mocked with glee
His life on this old Earth was now over and done
He died to cover all the sins of both you and me

He was laid to rest in a dark and empty cave
A bolder blocked the entrance where He lay
He was the son of God and was resurrected
We now celebrate this event as Easter Sunday

Sting Of Death

As that awful sting of death does beset us
No longer will we breathe Earth’s fresh air
We will leave behind this world’s problems
There to be in God’s precious eternal care

We live on God’s Earth but for a short time
We can all wonder why but we do not know
God has allowed sin into this wicked world
But He gave a way to Heaven how we can go

Believe in all His words as the Bible tells us
Don’t turn away from what He has taught
Be fair in everything that you do down here
Because a passage to Heaven can’t be bought

One day that time will certainly come for you
No way will you avoid what God has in store
No amount of Gold hoarded will help you out
We all should know God will protect you more

My Greatest Gain

 My cousin Joe Smith passed on March 4th and it is in his memorey that I have written this poem.


We know in this old imperfect world
There will be heartaches for us to find
A special friend may have passed away
A dear one we can’t get off our mind

Helpless in thinking we stumble about
Not realizing God controls our daily life
That they have now gone to their reward
No more trouble and never more strife

Gone from a life that knows so much pain
To a land where peace and comfort abound
There to see God in His glorious surroundings
To be free when they hear the trumpet sound

Some day my friend I shall join you up there
Rest assured one day we will meet you again
When this life on the Earth is over and is gone
I am sure that Heaven will be my greatest gain

There Is No Constellation

Lord I know there is no constellation
It must be where I stand only by You
My heart is full of love for my Savior
To You my Lord I will always be true

Heaven must be my home one day
Where to see my all friends up there
Living a peaceful life that is eternal
Knowing I will be in Your loving care

Yes God I know You are the only God
You created all the Heavens and Earth
You sent Your Son to die for all our sin
A sin that we have had since our birth

If today would be the day You call me
My Lord I know that I am ready to go
For I believe and do confess all my sins
  Love for You my Lord does daily grow

Four Seasons

From the harshness of a cruel Winter
Emerges the gentle breezes of Spring
Crocus peep their head to look about
In a tree I hear a Robin begin to sing

Beauty of the Earth is starting to show
Soon the lawns will be a pretty Green
Then White and Pink Dogwood bloom
Making the air smell so fresh and clean

Springtime is the Season I love the best
When it seems everything has come alive
As we hear the whirling lawn mower blades
We will know that Spring at last did arrive

God has made us four seasons each year
He did it to keep this world in harmony
There is a time to plant and time to grow
Time to harvest, and rest for you and me

Garden Of Gethsemane

In a misty morning you can see Him
Walking in the lovely garden this day
He named this garden Gethsemane
A beautiful place where He did pray

Located at the foot of Mount of Olives
It was one of Jesus favorite places to go
There He could find peace and stillness
It was there the Olive trees did grow

Jesus found much comfort in the garden
He would pray to His Father high above
Knowing that one day they would kill Him
Still His heart for them was filled with love

If today to Him you do pray He will answer
He will take you up to His Promised Land
There you will spend a life that’s Eternal
Walking with Him on that Golden Strand
