City Of Gold

We had several violent storms here in Southern Ohio this past week, but today looks like a top ten day. A very good day to attend church and have lunch out. Have the greatest day.

City Of Gold

When the Sun lights up the Eastern sky
Dawn will then break into a beautiful day
Rains of the past week has been heavy
Now this bright Sun will chase them away

Sparkling green is the grass on the lawn
Still wet from the storm we had last night
Bolts of wicked lightning filled a black sky
Filling the little children with dreaded fright

As the storm passed into a longed for past
All is quiet on this clear and lovely Sunday
Soon the Church bells will ring a welcome
For all to attend Church services this day

Into the house of the Lord we will gather
To hear the message our Pastor will deliver
His message will be straight from the Bible
Showing us God is not a taker but a giver

He will give us eternal life if we will listen
To all of the commandment he has told
Love and believe in all of His Holy words
If you want to live up in that City of Gold

Night Animals

Did you ever sit in a porch swing on a Summer night and hear all of the noises of insects and night birds? Sometime they sound as if they are singing in harmony. Other times it seems as it is nothing but noise.

Night Animals

On this stuffy hot summer evening
Only night creatures can be heard
Crickets are calling to their mates
On a hill there is a whippoorwill bird

A night Owl screeches a loud hoot
A small field mouse will be his prey
It's not aware of its impending doom
So the small mouse continues to play

Wrestling around in the dry leaves
Two young Opposums start to fight
So restless waiting for their mother
It is pitch black this moonless night

God created these night creatures
Same as He created both you and me
Enjoy the sounds of the night animals
They sing a song of night and it is free

He Will Let You In

When I leave this old sinful world
My home up in Heaven shall I see
There I'll find peace and serenity
It is there God will ever set me free

Free of the bondage of this world
Where so many evils we have seen
Squabbling about the land or money
Using tactics with their heart unclean

Up in Heaven all of that will vanish
Everyone there will be your friend
Smiling faces will be seen every day
Living a life there that never will end

Why would anyone settle for less
When they know God forgives all sin
Ask today for forgiveness to our Lord
With love in His heart He will let you in

His Many Colors

Have you thought of the many colors we see here on Earth? Can you in your wildest imagnination visualize what colors await us up in Heaven?

His Many Colors

He has colored all of the sky Blue
He has colored all the grass Green
He has colored all the many flowers
With all colors that are in between

His stroke better than Rembrandts
No flaws can be seen in His work
Be it the clouds over the mountain
Or a Brown Trout down in the brook

We see Deer standing in the Snow
Their Brown coats show up the White
So exacting are all of His paintings
He seems to get all of them just right

Tho the colors here are so dazzling
They must pale with those up there
For we know He has saved the best
For His home that's high up in the air

Sunday Morning Service

With the arrival of another Sunday, it is time to go over to the church we attend.Having written this a few minutes before attending the morning services, I must now get ready to attend SHBC, or Shawnee Hills Baptist Church. May your day be blessed.

Sunday Morning Service

Brightness of a new day beginning
Wakes up the sleepiness within me
Sun shining brightly this morning
Not one cloud in the sky can I see

Arising from the fog of deep sleep
I am up to see another beautiful day
Soon I will be off to attend church
I know God wants it to be this way

Once again see our flock gathered
Hear the preaching of Pastor Ken
As he tells of what the Bible says
It's teachings from away back then

Enjoyment as we hear the choir
Singing in their excellent harmony
Song I like best of all that they sing
I think would be "Abide With Me"

When all of the services are over
Handshakes and smiles you will see
At the door is our Pastor Ken smiling
SHBC that is the one that's for me

Unyielding Wings Of Time

For some life is but a very short time. While others may life well past one hundred. Since we have no idea when our time will come doesn't it make good sense to be prepared for that time? Trust God !

Unyielding Wings Of Time

Brought on to this Earth by our Creator
We live on the unyielding wings of time
We never know how long our span of life
Some short, others live past their prime

From birth our days must be numbered
In the great book kept up there in the sky
If you know your precious Lord and Savior
There is no reason to know when or why

If you know the Lord and HIs teachings
Follow His words all of the way to the end
You will know that He is waiting for you
No message will He have need to send

For He will take you up to His Kingdom
With all of the other believers of His power
To await all of those love ones from Earth
Who will have the victory for all of their valor

Our Friend Joe

I first met Joe and his wife Nancy several years ago. We would go to Shawnee State University and have a good walk in the gym, then go in the pool and swim for a while. Like Joe, several of our friends, (called the Golden Bears) has passed on. I think it just goes to show our life us like the twinkling of an eye in God's great scheme for us. I know I shall see Joe in Heaven.
May God Bless Joe's lovely wife Nancy and the rest of his family.

Although we know he is in Heaven
We all mourn the loss of him today
One day we will be with our friend
Listen to what the Bible has to say

He was a friend, a husband,a father
So pleasant in his manner every day
With a smile and a twinkle in his eye
It was a pleasure to know him that way

I know we all will miss our dear friend
A void it will leave in our life each day
Tho we know his home is much better
Since our Dear Lord called him away

Just remember our loss is God's gain
He will wait along the Golden Shore
For all of his friends and dear family
Then together they will be once more

A Christian Life and I Thank God

Sorry I haven't posted a couple of my newest poems, as I have had problems with this old worn out ( like me) computer. But with God's grace it is now working. I wanted to write something for My sweet departed Mother, so I wrote I Thank God.

A Christian Life

With his aged dim eyes he reads his Bible
He had read it at least a hundred times over
Each time he read it he had learned more
Starting with Genesis he read it cover to cover

When he was just a young man he met God
His life he knew must be to serve Him well
Working as a youth Pastor he convinced kids
How an evil life leads down the pathway to hell

It was at that time he met a beautiful young lady
He courted her and soon he had won her heart
As they were married on that warm June evening
They made a vow only death could keep them apart

As the years rolled by so swiftly in their marriage
Three children were born and had Christian ties
Two sons became Doctors and their girl a nurse
Deep into their heart their love of God still lies

Just over three years ago came that horrible night
When God called his wife to His home in the sky
Heartbroken, he thought God had foresaken him
When reunited up in Heaven, God will tell him why

I Thank God

I remember those bitter cold Winter days
When she would walk to work in the snow
Deep down in my heart I so dearly loved her
But back then how much I just didn't know

In Heaven I will put my arms around her
Tell her many things I am sure she knew
Love for my dear sweet mother was there
Started when I was a baby and daily it grew

Within a day or two I will go to the cemetery
I will visit her grave and decorate it once again
Feeling I will have as I stand by her headstone
I know will be with sadness and heartfelt pain

I thank God she is in a place where I will see her
When I join our family high up in the Heavenly sky
All of our questions will be answered by our Lord
But to gain that eternal life we must be ready to die

As I walk along in the mornings dense fog
I have a feeling of Him walking beside me
Anxiously I listen for words He might say
I know only He can set my sinful soul free

I smile as I know He has a place waiting
He has made for us high up into the sky
His is an eternal Kingdom there waiting
There we will never wonder how or why

It is written on the pages of the Bible
Of how Jesus died on that old cross
He took all our sins that terrible day
Saving us for from a Heavenly loss

As the fog slowly drifts up to the skies
I no long feel His presence by my side
After instilling the Holy Spirit within me
He knows to all His words I shall abide

In the land of that eternal glory
We will meet our God one day
There at His side and in unision
We all then shall begin to pray

So many days I had ignored you
How foolish were my thoughts then
After finding your love in my heart
I think back to what might have been

What a blessed Savior thou art
Lifting me from the depths of sin
Telling me if you believe and obey
My Gates of Heaven will let you in

A precious moment spent with Him
Is worth more than years all alone
How happy I have met my dear Lord
He is the only truth I have ever known

Pray to Him today
He'll show the way
Be on the right path
Avoid His great wrath

Know Him as a friend
Find death isn't the end
His is the final word
He wants to be heard

You will be Heaven bound

You will rise in the air
Live in His eternal care
Get to know Him Today

Rely On God

I was thinking of the many foods we can gather without having to put much work into it. Honey of course is one, greens ,mushrooms, fruit from a tree in your yard, the list is endless. God gives us all these things and we seldom thank Him for them. Think about it.

Rely On God

In the early morning, dew is on a Rose
Caressing tender pedals of her bloom
Waking her from the dark of the night
Yawning she emits her sweet perfume

Soon Honey Bees will take her nectar
Then fly to their hive in a Beech tree
To fill the wax cones that they made
With delicious Honey for you and me

God has made so many tasty foods
You can find them by looking around
Many are up in trees or in the water
Some are seen growing in the ground

Rely on God for He will provide for us
Be hungry for our Lord's precious word
Be prepared to ascend up to Heaven
As the sound of the Trumpet is heard
