Far Up Above

Has time brought sadness to your soul
Is each day a struggle for you to go on
Have you stayed awake the night long
Then arising before the break of dawn

Have you thought that you can't go on
Nothing in life seems to be worth it all
No one has explained the facts to you
Are you prepared when God does call

There is only one way you can be right
It is through Jesus, He has taken our sin
When on that day He died up on Calvary
It was then a new life for you could begin

Don't give the devil a chance to ruin you
You know it is Jesus that gives you love
Believe in Him and then tell Him in prayer

Find Christ In Christmas

If it wasn't for Jesus we would have no Christmas
For it is on that day we celebrate His Holy birthday
So don't take Christ out and call it a holliday season
God sent Him here to Earth to take your sins away

It was on a night in the small town of Bethlehem
Mary and Joseph arrived to find the inns were full
Seeing the only place they could lay down and rest
Was this manger with straw and they had no wool

Baby Jesus was born that night as the town slept
Not one whimper did the little baby Jesus make
Joseph watched while Mary and baby Jesus slept
Fearing for all of their lives Joseph stayed awake

If you do take Christ out of that holy day Christmas
You are denying that our Savior Jesus ever existed
But if you believe He is your only way to Heaven
My friend you will find one day you are truely gifted

Our Thirty Third Anniversary

These thirty three years have passed swiftly
Since that December 9th we both said I do
My heart and my love I gave to you that day
Happy to be married to a lovely lady like you

As the years roll along it's clearly that I see
No other could hold a candle to you my dear
This beauty that I see in you could never fade
Forever you will be in my heart that is so clear

I smile when I think back to that day years ago
Knowing this life together has been so good
You have been the wife that I always wanted
It has been just the way I thought it would

The years have not dimmed my love for you
Each year it just grows stronger and stronger
These years we spend on this Earth is limited
Eternity we spend up in Heaven will be longer

Wrong From Right

Walk on the brightly lit path
Don't walk the one that's dim
If you stay on the bright one
You are sure to be with Him

He is the Lord and our Master
Ever showing us what is right
On the dark one is the devil
On you life he'll cast a blight

Goodness is with our Savior
Every day it shall always be
When I walk along with Him
I feel the love He gives to me

Stay away from that darkness
Only walk with Jesus in the light
Knowing He will always be there
To let me know wrong from right

God"s Master Plan

Are there hopes and dreams I never accomplished
You bet there are and now I guess it may be too late
I wonder why we let these great ideas just slide away
Could it be that we are letting ourselves procrastinate

I guess some people would say that I am a little lazy
Not doing all of these wonderful ideas when they arise
You know that God only put twenty four hours in a day
So it really should not come to you as a big surprise

Each day will give us a new time to think things over
A time for us to study and then know what we must do
Although we may not always have the correct thoughts
If we really think it over our mistakes should be but few

Please do not think that I am just making up excuses
You see I am just another born on Earth sinner man
I will never reach perfection down here on this Earth
I can in Heaven, it is another part of God's master plan

To Know My Lord

To know my Lord makes me so happy
To walk with my Lord I am always glad
To have found my Lord gives me peace
His word is the most precious ever had

To walk with Him gives to me pleasure
Although His footprints are never found
Clearly He is walking along beside me
Perhaps His feet never touch the ground

Here on Earth I will try to be a good man
Try to abide in every word He has to say
Get by all of the evil temptations on Earth
Asking for deliverance from Earth one day

One day I will meet Him there in Heaven
I will bow at His feet and there I will pray
Tears will be on my cheeks in happiness
When well done are the words He will say

So Much Change

These old eyes have seen so much change
From the time when I was just a small child
It seems as if the World has changed so fast
At times it seemed everything had gone wild

From riding in a model T to today's fine cars
I have flown over seas on a big wide body Jet
Seeing our entertainment go from radio to TV
Now with 3D TV I know they are not done yet

Today we have all of these home computers
Taking us across the world to find a new friend
With programs that will even show us our home
We have no way of knowing how it all will end

One thing is for sure and it is for certain today
God will control just what He will let us make
I wonder just how far He will let us go like this
Knowing one day we might make a big mistake

If I had never known God

When the sting of death befalls you
Do you know the direction you will go
Will you find your way up to Heaven
Or find the fires of Hell down below

A horrible death if you follow the devil
He laughs and mocks your mistakes
Find it in your mind to turn him away
A lot of willpower is what it does take

Then turn to God you'll find the answer
He has prepared your home up above
Where you will find peace and comfort
In Heaven where it is filled with His love

Read your Holy Bible from front to back
It will tell you all that you need to know
Every word will tell only the truth to you
Follow and obey, to Heaven you will go

I Remember Jesus

This aged mind don't remember like it did
As years have rolled by, so has my memorey
I would hear it one time and then remember
Names now seem to escape me some way

What once was a mind that could recall all
Is now cloudy and I really don't know why
I feel guilty when some one asks me who
I just don't remember but you can bet I try

Old age can't be that rascal that caused it
I have seen older people sharper than a tack
It seems at times I get all mixed up in names
But there are times when a name comes back

One name I can never forget is Jesus Christ
For it was He who took all of my sins away
That day He died on that old rugged cross
Assured my place in Heaven one great day

He Will Relieve

Autumn's beautiful leaves are turning brown
A forewarning of the cold weather we will see
Soon the trees will be stripped of their mantle
Then to be dormant until Spring comes to be

We have enjoyed all of their dazzling colors
It is with sadness to see all of the beauty go
Knowing bleakness of winter will be with us
Our leafless hills can be covered with snow

We wont worry about a long and cold Winter
Springtime will chase the cold weather away
We will see the buds appearing on the trees
Soon the green leaves will be on there way

I know it wonderful the way God renews life
Your life can be renewed if you will believe
He has made for you a place up in Heaven
There where all your burdens he will relieve

Back Again

The fond memories of my childhood
Linger in my heart on this rainy day
Back to when life was much simpler
It's now I wish it had stayed that way

I remember rain on that old tin roof
Somehow it would lull me to sleep
So poor our tick was filled with straw
Precious memories I will ever keep

With an old dry cell radio to listen to
For there was no electric in our home
We would listen to different stations
There we could let our minds roam

Today we have modern conveniences
I would trade them all to go back to then
God gave me that peaceful time of life
In Heaven, He will give it back again

What Would You Do

If Jesus came to your house what would you do
Ask Him in and pretend you never was a sinner
Or be humble and say welcome to a sinners home
Then would you give Him your finest plate for dinner

Would you take out the newest sheets for His bed
While you slept on ones you had in the guest room
Would you sleep without thoughts of being put out
Or would you have a sleepless night full of gloom

Would you kill your last chicken for His dinner
Knowing not where you would find your next meal
These things you would need to know the answer
If His visit to your home was today and was real

I will tell you one thing that is certain and is sure
He is in your house every minute of every day
Don't think you can ever hide anything from Him
Always be trueful to Him every time that you pray

Visions Of Heaven

No one can tell me how beautiful Heaven will be
No words can describe what we will find up there
God has built a place for us believers to be happy
He has made a world of love that we can all share

Saying in my Father's house are many mansions
Jesus is telling us He wants us with Him up there
Where for all eternity we will live and worship Him
He will forever keep us in His tender loving care

When I get to that Grand place that we call Heaven
What joy shall overflow my heart and I shall weep
Knowing my Savior has given me this great home
For the belief I have in Him, that I shall ever keep

When we all gather around Him up in Gloryland
What a wonderful time we will see in that Jubilee
There will be singing songs that will Honor Him
Then what a glorious celebration we all shall see

I Would Run

We are all creatures created by God
None will act the same or think alike
Some may want to sit for many hours
While other prefer taking a long hike

No matter what you are thinking now
What ever you might have on your mind
Know our Blessed Savior has saved you
That gives a feeling both warm and kind

He purged the sins of both you and me
He shed His blood on that terrible day
So we could all be saved and sin free

So even though we are all a bit different
He wants us to know He loves everyone
If I had a choice of the way of seeing Jesus
I wouldn't hesitate one minute, I would run

Leaves

On this nice refreshingly cool Autumn day
A slight breeze causes rustling of the leaves
Soon the hillsides will don their bright colors
As paint from God's brush each leaf receives

Each leaf will be different from all the others
No two will have either the same color or size
As the Yellows, Reds, and sparkling Orange
Look as though all could win the first prize

Although the hills will be so dazzling in color
It is a forewarning of the changes we will see
Cold weather will turn all the leaves to Brown
Then down on Mother Earth they soon will be

It seemed only a short time ago Spring came
Little buds were sprouting out on these trees
Now end of the Summertime has gone away
Leaves are sent to the ground by the breeze

Up In Gloryland

A tired old man with haunted eyes
Thinks of the years that's gone by
He wonders where time has gone
As he brushes a tear from his eye

He thinks back to the Golden years
When life was happy as it could be
He had a beautiful wife at that time
And their children numbered three

But the time has changed all of that
She died when the baby was just four
It made him feel so lonesome and blue
He didn't know if he could live anymore

One day he found God and it changed
He found peace knowing God is grand
Once again he will find that happiness
With her eternal love up in Gloryland

That City Above

Tomorrow will bring us peace and satisfaction
It will be better than we have ever seen before
Being called to be with our Lord up in Heaven
Where we will suffer pain and sorrow no more

Living a dreadful life of sin, Jesus has saved us
His blood was spilled while on a cross that day
Knowing his blood would cleanse us of our sins
He died for our sins so we would not have to pay

If you only think of the life He has given to us all
It really isn't hard to understand why we are here
His love for us is total and will be never ending
If you study the Holy Bible you'll see that is clear

To see that beautiful land that's the Sweet Forever
Believe in God and let Him fill your heart with love
Talk to Him and tell Him of your needs every day
One day you will find your home in that City above

Always In Control

Jesus has given you an eraser for you sins
On the day He died on the old rugged cross
He took the sins of those who believe in Him
Believe in Him and your life will not be a loss

Surely you want to go up to Heaven one day
Jesus said only through me can you go there
In His Father's house He has a home for you
Seek the truth for Jesus will give eternal care

How can you not believe in our Most Holy God
Are you one who believes in the big bang theory
What way could you have arrived here on Earth
It was in God's perfect way anything else is eerie

Tell Him this very day you know He is your maker
Tell Him you will surrender to Him your very soul
To love and to worship Him with all of your heart
Ask Him to bless you, for He is always in control

By Your Side

Without riches we are born into this world
We will leave without riches when we go
God will not judge us on our Earthly gain
But with the knowledge we love Him so

It is not important if you are rich or poor
God will treat you the same in every way
But if He sees your riches were illgained
You must atone or He will turn you away

God will love you, in that you can believe
His passion is for every one to be with Him
Even those who have committed gastly sins
Can find with Him there future may not be dim

Talk to God in prayer today, He will hear you
Don't think you are all alone without any hope
He is the power and strength you need now
He will not give a life in which you can not cope

Think of the eternal life God will provide to you
A beautuful mansion in where you can reside
No sadness or sorrows will confront you there
Forever you will have a loving God by your side

Been Our Duty

As I look down across the Hickory ridge
On this quite warm early September day
I can see the leaves waving in the wind
Hear Squirrels frolic as they run and play

I shut my eyes and dream of yesteryear
When as a young man I walked these hills
Smiling I remember that time so long ago
As I saw the animals walking along the rills

Much has changed since those happy times
I can see a patch of the forrest that is clearcut
Large trees that once stood there now are gone
Leaving behind bush and a large and muddy rut

Sad, but I guess this is what they call progress
Don't worry it will come back a logger did say
But the beauty God put in this great woodland
Wont be seen here for a very long time anyway

There will be no clearcuts to see up in Heaven
God has planned everything to be only beauty
We should have preserved all that beauty here
As a matter of fact it should have been our duty

When that time does come I will hear
Singing of the angels and their band
There I will walk with my sweet Jesus
Daily down along that Golden strand

What beauty there will be uncovered
Fragrance from the flowers fill the air
There to feel ease and comfort forever

What feelings of adulation fill our soul
When we see that great Throne of God
As a multitude of people gather around
We see our great Savior smile and nod

Feelings of contentment shall fill my soul
Seeing my friends I had known from below
If tomorrow should be my time to leave here
I want my home to be up in Glory when I go

She Is going Home

In the quietness of the Funeral Home
Her small gray coffin was open to see
An old lady that was past her eighties
She is going home where she'll be free

Her life on Earth hasn't been very easy
Born into poverty in the nineteen twenties
Her education was was only the 8th grade
Some made dollars as she made pennies

She wanted better times that never came
Married to a dirt poor farmer who left her
She had those three little children to feed
Destitute, welfare became her only answer

Today she knows the beauty of Heaven
She has no need for their silver and gold
Heaven has provided her with all needs
Today her eternal life with God did unfold

His Many Powers

There is a home waiting for me in Glory
Up there where I will live for an eternity
No fears or trouble will arise in Heaven
It shall be a haven of rest for you and me

I dream of what my home will look like
Lots of marble all inlaid with pure Gold
There we will have what God provides
When we get to Heaven all things unfold

In the Bible we learn of His many powers
Where He can heal those with great pain
He can give the sight back to a blind man
To everyone a life eternal they can obtain

Could anything be more marvelous for us
If you believe, He will show you the way
To that home He has built for all eternity
Where we can meet with Him every day

Emotions

So many emotions a lifetime will bring
Cries of the baby wakes a sleepy dad
Although he needs a good night's rest
Birth of their first child makes him glad

A mother worries about her only son
He has been away for a year in the war
Praying to God to keep him from harm
Dreaming of him in her arms once more

A freckled face boy who is now twelve
Dreams of the ballgame he has today
Perhaps he will hit a grandslam homer
Or save the game with a defensive play

An old man looks upward toward Heaven
He thanks God for all he has had in this life
With five children who have all been good
But most of all for his sweet and loving wife

Beyond The Blue

If tomorrow never dawns in your life
What direction shall your soul take
Shall you enter into the fires of hell
Or will it be a life with God you make

He has said believe in me, be saved
Satan makes no such promise to you
Only the believers of God are saved
Words uttered from satan are untrue

Ask the good Lord for His forgiveness
For all the evil things you have done
He will bless you for your confession
Your start to an eternal life has begun

Without worry you can face tomorrow
God has made a home in Heaven for you
Tell Him in your prayers that you believe
He will give you a home beyond the blue

Chain up those gates of hell
Walk with your Savior today

It is in that Holy city of Glory
A Home only God can give

Just walk on the right path
He then will stand by you
Show Him your good faith

When He died on that cross
If you listen to that lucifer

As I walk with my Lord on that narrow path
I have a feeling that thrills me unto my soul
My heart is light as I heed His sound advice
His words are true and they made me whole

I feel as if I am floating, my feet off that path
Still I can see Him as He walks along with me
Devotion to our Lord is without compromise
For one day up in Heaven with Him I will be

He tells me of all His love and compassion
For everyone here on Earth, not just a few
Believe in Him and you shall find that home
He has built there in Heaven for me and you

Take a walk with our Savior and talk each day
You will find it will give to you peace of mind
He will point you in the right direction my friend
You will realize to the truth you have been blind

Think As You Look

Soon the skies will darken upon my old world
I will hear trumpets calling me loud and clear
Great feelings come over me as I am listening
I can sense that my Lord up in Heaven is near

I am so glad that I found my dear Savior in time
For my soul would be headed in a different way
A sinful life I had led for so many years on Earth
Then I met God and I soon learned how to pray

I would walk and talk with Him in a Rose garden
Early in the morning when we could be all alone
He would tell me of Glories Heaven held for me
Saying my place in Heaven was etched in stone

Airy feelings would come with each step we took
As we walked on dew laden grass each morning
My friends if you are not walking with our Savior
That ugly devil will get to you without any warning

If you will listen He will tell it is written in the Bible
A way to my Fathers house is found in that Holy book
Read and understand for it tells you the way to go
All you need to do is open it and think as you look

It's God's Way

As I hear the storm outside that is raging
God has given me shelter from the storm
He has given me protection from the rain
Faith in my Lord will ever keep me warm

As the lightning flashes in the distant sky
I can hear the thunder rumble so very loud
Darkness fills what was a bright morning
As the sky now looks like one angry cloud

Slowly the clouds drift away and now are gone
Opening up a bright and sunny world to see
As birds again start singing their sweet songs
Tranquil feelings swirl about and engulf me

As the storm has now abated and passed on
New life seems to spring forth after the rain
God in His great widsom has done it this way
When we need some water He will do it again

Waiting For Glory

He still sits in the back pew of that old church
Following each word as the Pastor preached
Looking down at this worn out old black Bible
End of time for both had almost been reached

He had been coming alone for over ten years
Since his devoted wife's life had passed away
He thinks back to when he was a deacon here
Back when they attended on each church day

These hours at home are so lonely without her
He sits in his old rocking chair and falls asleep
Dreams then come to him with all of their beauty
These memories of their love that was so deep

He knows not when God will call him to Glory
Where once again he will be back with his wife
He will attend this Church now for each service
Until he is called to Heaven for his Eternal life

He Sings To God

They asked him not to sing in the choir
His voice had become rough and aged
What once was smooth with every word
Now made so many of the choir enraged

Yes he sang to God when he was alone
And he knew God heard a beautiful voice
Now to some he wasn't worth listening to
But thanks to our God they had a choice

These long years has passed and he is old
He still tries to find what was lost years ago
For he has the desire to sing those hymns
But his singing is just too course and low

He knows when Heavens portals are open
He will be welcome to sing a gospel song
Along with God's angels he will start singing
In that Heavenly choir where he will belong

Wake Up America

I think back in time and I wonder
Where did it all go so very wrong
This country built on faith in God
Then was both healthy and strong

Today it is so hard to recognize her
This land made by the brave and free
It seems as if God doesn't exist here
Except for just a few like you and me

Are our dreams now like nightmares
For a country without God will soon fall
Empty promises now seem the norm
For a land that once stood so very tall

Can we get this mess back to reason
To me there is an answer this very day
America, wake up to our God in Glory
Then get down on your knees and pray

He Gave Us The Seed

Beautiful is my world and everything in it
God has so chosen many things for us all
We can enjoy all of His great gifts if we look
Be it Winter, Spring, Summer, or in the Fall

In the Winter He gives us lacey snowflakes
That cover the ground with their velvet White
A wonderful playground for children of all ages
Where they ride their sleds long into the night

In Spring He lets us see the Earth reborn
Sun to warm the soil to make the plants grow
Flowers that burst out in their perfect bloom
Their dazzling colors will put on a great show

In the Summer He gave us time to grow a crop
Have gardens with vegetables that we like to eat
With Corn,Tomatos,Potatos, which are our staples
We also grow all kind of melons which are a treat

In Fall He gave us time to harvest all of the crops
To store away until that time we are again in need
At that time we reflect and give Him Thanksgiving
Without Him there's nothing, He gave us the seed

Carved from a wooded hillside by men
Many hours of sweating from their toil
Clearing of the trees is how it did begin

Building a large shelter house to start
It expanded with two cabins on the land
Building bathrooms and a shower house
Adding a kitchen has made it so grand

So much has been done to praise God
All built in His Honor and His Holy name
Named Camp Son Rise for our Savior
Built for all of the children even the lame

I know God is so pleased with these laborers
Everyone who in any way made it come true
For the children who enjoy this campground
I am sure in their own way they thank you too

Our Friend Keith

Keith Matheny is a well known motivational speaker who entertained the children at our church camp Wed, then delivered a great sermon Sunday. While

Our Friend Keith

God didn't mean for our life to be humdrum
That is why He put Keith Matheny on Earth
With a sense of humor but with faith in God
Keith has given to so many people a rebirth

He makes jokes with his little friend Charley
Still He has a message made for all our ears
He tells us of a land that has great promise
It is there we can allay our sorrow and fears

With joy in his heart and a twinkle in his eye
He enjoys telling us all how we can be saved
To one day walk in that Gloryland with Jesus
To the devil we shall never become enslaved

I am very proud to call Keith my good friend
Great this world would be if there more like him
For without strong convictions that he gives us
Any future for our eternity would be mighty dim

With Him In Heaven

What a happy time we will have up there in Heaven
With God's children gathering all around His throne
It was a Blessing Jesus gave us while on this Earth
He took on all our sins for which He alone did atone

Many hours we will spend with our beloved Savior
Thanking Him for things He has helped us through
Battling with satan while we were an Earthly mortal
Without His help we would never known what to do

How much I love my Lord in Heaven I can't tell you
It is beyond my mind to fathom how much it could be
It is a feeling that penetrates every fiber of my body
Knowing it wont be long until my Savior I shall see

While I wait for my journey up to that Beautiful City
I would exhort you to study the Holy Bible every day
It will tell you how you can live in Heaven eternally
Most of all, to our God, you must not forget to pray

He Is The Truth

I know that one day I shall meet my Savior
I am waiting now for Him to take me away
He is the only one who can give me grace
To be with Him up in Gloryland I ever pray

As I talk to Him through my daily prayers
He guides me in the rightful ways of time
Telling me to beware of false images I see
If that stairway to Heaven I want to climb

His words are always clear, but softly said
No words of anger shall he ever utter to me
If I ever disgust Him it does not ever show
You see He is the truth that will set us free

As I struggle here on this Earth each day
Knowing what awaits me when life is done
I know soon Heaven's door will open wide
There to find that my victory has been won

The Final Bell

Everyone is brought into this old world
Poor without a red penny to their name
Some seem to want nothing but wealth
Riches to them seems to be their game

Little do they realize the lust they have
Forgetting the misery that money brings
Always looking to find that extra dollar
Even if it means illegally pulling strings

While it is true we need to have money
It can transform us into a devil on Earth
Some would sell their soul for the dollar
Trying to prove just what they are worth

They can't take ill gotten riches with them
To pay off the devil when they reach hell
What if they were the richest in the world
They would have nothing at the final bell

Bring God Back

Are there God fearing people in Washington
Kind we knew when our country was growing
Back then they all were good Christian people
Our Nation was born, its pride was overflowing

Sadly these days it seems they have forgotten
It was God that made this nation what it is now
But with people like Madeline O'Hair protesting
We have some idiots in charge here somehow

Do away with the Ten Comandments they want
Not realizing they were set in unbreakable stone
These are God's words said for us to abide with
His Son Jesus died so our sins He could atone

Be foolish you mass of Americians and stay put
Letting this country continue to stay on this path
Instead of being one of God's chosen countries
One day we surely will feel God's stinging wrath

Open Your Eyes

We can see the beauty of this world
When the Sun shines upon the land
God has given to us this full bounty
Made just the way that He planned

He created the rivers and the hills
Each one is different from the rest
Some rivers will flood the lowlands

Flowers He gave to us in all colors
So many sizes and different shapes
Healthy fruits He has provided for us
Among the tastiest is Concord grapes

Each day He lets us stay here on Earth
We see how He made it for you and me

Miracle Mountain

This poem was written to thank all the people that made this Church camp possible.


Miracle Mountain

Soon the hill will be ringing with laughter
As the children come to Camp Son Rise
Joy will fill their hearts, minds and souls
As this Miracle Mountain fills their eyes

Built by God loving men with conviction
A wooded hillside is now a site of beauty
With both power and water up there now
A nice safe place for the children it will be

Up on that hillside they will learn of God
It is up there so much closer they will be
As they sing Hymns about their Savior
Love of the Holy Spirit may they then see

We do thank God for this place of worship
Where both adults and children might pray
Lord, we hope will bless this place of worship
For it was built in Your honor, in every way

In Sweet Harmony

As I look around I can see the wonder of it all
From a small blade of grass to a tall Oak tree
He put together things in complete perfection
So everything would work in sweet harmony

This vessel we call our body shows His work
He designed it down to it's most perfect detail
To be used while we are here upon this Earth
In the latter stages of our life it's weak and frail

When we ascend up to the home He has made
We shall then have a body made for all of eternity
So much different from this one down on Earth
It shall be everlasting, beautiful for the eye to see

When we cross over that river a home we will find
Made by the Masters hand and without any flaws
Built with precious stones and with Gold and Silver
We await for that day when our Blessed Lord calls

Lord you are the Master Carpenter
I am only an old rough piece of board
After You have shaped and polished me
Let Heaven then become my great reward

Your words will be the finishing touch
To bring out the best that I can ever do

As We Pray

Knowing the Lord is my Shepherd
Brings peace and contentment within
He watches over me and He protects
He has taken on Himself all of my sin

He brings the sun onto our pathways
He restores all my faith with His word
I know that He can only tell the truth

He tells me of that most beautiful city
Where we shall eternally live one day
Where the fields are green and lovely
It's a place for all God's children to play

If everyone understood the love He has
What a revival we would have every day
We would sing to His Glory long and loud

That Old Farmer

He hears the rumble of the thunder

Torrents of rain will soon be falling
To dampen the the now dry ground
An old farmer's prayers are answered
His faith in God again has been found

For many years he has lived on Earth
Through these years He relied on God
To keep his family safe from all harm
As he produced the food from his sod

Now they are all gone from his home
He sits on the porch, thinks, and prays
Remembering the time with his family
Wishing he could go back to those days

I hear the raindrops falling on that tin roof tonight
Bringing back memories of a yesterday long ago
Time was of no concern back in my youthful years
Wasting all that time, not knowing where it did go

Realizing now life is too precious to throw away
God has endowed you with talents you don't know
Look with your eyes wide open and you might find
A new venture that will cause you to work and grow

If not a carpenter who's work is like that of fine art
Perhaps a writer who can think out a very fine line
Maybe you could be called out to preach a sermon
Or you might have a restaurant where we can dine

God has made us something not to just throw away
But to find the things He wants us to learn and do
Most of all He wants us to understand all His ways

Love And Obey

I have ever got Jesus on my mind
I want to meet Him up there in Glory
To talk to Him and hear Him tell me
You've read of me. here's my story

Believe in Me and I will give to you
A life that is eternal with Me up there
No worrys will be with you in Heaven

Sun will be with us everyday up there
Never will you see the darkness of night
With God's mighty arms holding on to us
He will take away any and all of our fright

Here on the Earth is where it must start

His Heavenly Care

If today would be the day you meet Him
Are you prepared to be there by His side

He doesn't want to punish, but to love you
Jesus took all your fleshly sins as His own

Shout out this message to all, let it be known

Follow His ways and you will see the harvest
A beautiful Home awaits you high up in the sky
He has made this mansion for our eternal life
So obey Him, He has given us the reason why

Fall down on your knees and praise Him daily
Never let the devil cause you to stutter or sway
Hold fast to our Savior's words found in the Bible

Understand Why

What seems to us to be impossible
We see that God has already done
From the giant trees of the Sequoia
To that small brook we can see run

Tall mountains that are up reaching
Seas that spread from sand to sand
Rivers that flow for a great distance
He made Earth a very beautiful land

Large oceans and skies of deep Blue
White fleecy clouds that float so free
A beautiful garden with many flowers
Everything we know there could be

He has given us a way to see it all
May it be by land or high in the sky
Ships to carry us to see the islands

Have you ever felt something was missing
But up to now you have never realized why
God will show you the way up to Heaven
Believe in Him make sure you give it a try

His arms are always opened to you friend

There will be a great reunion up in Heaven
Mother's little boy soon will meet her there

We will gather around, just one big family
There at the Fathers throne we shall meet

We will listen to the angels singing hymns
There will be great voices that will join in

Wont you walk along with our sweet Jesus
Be alert and listen to His soft but stern voice
He will tell you of this place He calls Heaven
Believe in His words, know it is your choice

He speaks of a land of rare beauty up there

When I walk those streets up in Heaven
There to have my Savior to be by my side
My heart shall be filled up with much joy

He will take away your sins as you confess

It will be your heart Jesus will surely bless

Every day has become a challange for us
Each step is being watched by the evil one
If you fall into those traps he sets for us all
Our place up in Heaven still could be won

Walking on that narrow path wont be easy

Sunday Morning Rain

As the rain falls softly this Sunday morning
I am thinking of what my Savior does for us
He gives rain so all the vegetables will grow
Many things that He gives to us is countless

From the early morning light til setting Sun
I know He is guiding me to be my very best
I need to work so hard for Him on this Earth
When I get up to Heaven it's there I can rest

There is a warm feeling I have in my heart
As I know He is standing very near by me
I then think of the precious blood He shed
Dying on that cross to make us all sin free

If we only knew everything he has done
Everyone would respect Him even more
Your love for Him would keep on growing
Past the time you enter into Heaven's door

Easter Sunday

From His humble birth in a small manger
Until His agonizing death on Calvary hill
Jesus Christ came to this Earth as a man
Saving all us people from sin was His will

He hears shouts of insults from many there
Never attempting to put up any kind of fight
He bravely said to His Father foregive them
They can't discern wrong from what's right

Paying for all the sins, both yours and mine
He hung on that ugly cross made of a tree
Stripped of the garments He wore that day
He made not an attempt to get Himself free

Buried in a dark tomb for three long days
He arose and ascended high up into the sky
He sits by His Fathers throne up in Heaven
As the beautiful Angels around them do fly

Today we meet in prayer just to thank Him
For doing all the things for us He has done
So Precious is Jesus, our Lord and Savior
For He is God's one and only begotten Son

As I walk through the days of my life
I know my Dear Savior walks beside
Of the words that I hear of Him speak
To all of His words I shall ever abide

Love follows on each of His footprints
Stirring up my heart to a great feeling
I am in awe with the great knowledge

I know as He is walking here with me
I will be safe from each and ever harm
With the protection my Lord gives me
I shall never have any worry or alarm

Does God live in your house

Not knowing which way to turn
Headed for the firey pits of hell

Given me so many good things
Number one is a wonderful wife

So many ways I have changed
Knowing now the direction to go
God gave His only begotten son
Showing me that He loves us so

God's heart is there within us all

God's Beautiful Spring

Soon the hills of God's world will come alive
Green leaves will appear to cover a bare limb
Grasses seem to be growing extremely fast
Most lawns need to be cut and given a trim

Much beauty God gives us in the Springtime
Flowers of all colors will come bursting alive
As we see all of these wonderous changes
We know winter is gone, Spring will arrive

Sounds of Spring brings joy into our hearts
Squeals of happiness from the kids playing
Fill the warm air that was so cold in Winter
A warm day like this might find me angling

God has made this a most wonderful season
Lifting live flowers from what once was dead
Much like He arose from the tomb He was in
Us believers face a world now without dread

Enjoy Spring

Last vestige of Winters wind seems less harsh
On this beautiful early April's Sunday Morning
It seems as if God now has woke up the world
Early flowers are through the ground breaking

As the birds are building their nests on a limb
Soon the leaves will cover what they have built
All ready to begin raising a brood of their own
They must be careful that their nest doesn't tilt

New Spring growth of grass is now on our lawn
I hear the mowers running on down the street
Everything in springtime is bursting afresh now
Spring must be God's favorite time it is so neat

So inspiring to feel the warm breezes that blow
Across what not too long ago was frozen ground
Spring seems to me is like the beginning of a life
Where energy even from us aged can be found

I am so glad God directed me here to this church
To see the most wonderful people I have ever met
Pastored by a man of God we all adore so greatly
One great day our home in Heaven we all will get

Love spreads throughout God's house of worship

All our love will carry us onward without any end

We knew it the first time we met him
He is a sincere and a dedicated man
We were looking for a church to attend
SHBC was one that just fit in our plan

Only one time did it take to convince us
We found just what we were looking for

When It's Time

When this Earthly life has past and is gone
Happiness I will feel but some sadness too
Leaving my loved one behind wont be easy
But it will be something God wants me to do

Knowing He will again reunite us one day
Should make this day much easier to bear
But think of how much better that I am now
Being without any pain In God's great care

I thank Him every day He gave you to me
Being married to the most wonderful wife
I think He must have looked the world over
To find you then keep us together for life

I know my waiting wont be so very long

I met Him along that water hole
It was a very hot and humid day
A nice smile came over His face
A cool drink He passed my way

Beautiful Every Day

When the sting of death stains my eyes
This Earth shall be my home no longer
Up that marble stairway I will then climb
Love for my Savior couldn't be stronger

With a feeling of regret I leave my friends
Knowing some may never meet me there
Some may have never felt the Holy Spirit
Those poor souls will only find utter dispair

To love our Lord fills up my heart with joy
Why doesn't every person find that feeling
Their blindness will cost a Heavenly home
Not knowing it is with God they are dealing

He will answer if in your prayers you ask
His love for you shall never waiver or stray
He wants all of His people to be with Him

My Great Loss

Lord please tell me how to get to Glory
Wont you tell me these things I must do
I know I am longing to see you my Lord
Knowing it's up in Heaven I can find You

I have read your word and know it's true
How can a sinner can get up to Heaven
All these things I have done as a sinner
You made my record back to being even

You paid for our sins on that rugged cross
With your blood you washed our sins away
They didn’t realize nor care who you were
On Mount Calvary that dreadful awful day

You endured their wrath and their torture
Until your last breath had past and gone
They put in a grave blocked by a bolder
But you assented to Heaven before dawn

Our life needed to follow you is hard I know
Still it is easy compared to being on that cross
I know if I should ever come to doubt You
Heaven would surely become my great loss

My Vision

When I get to my home in Heaven
I will see things I only dream about
It must be the grandest home of all
When I see Him I’ll sing and shout

We don’t know much about beauty
Seen on this sinful Earth down here
If it is compared with that in the sky
With both He used the upmost care

Will be the visions there I shall see
Created by our Saviors hands alone
He made for everyone including me

One day these visions will be reality

My Friend Pete

It's just a faded memory of a past yesterday
When I was a boy and he was my best friend
Lost to this world when he was hit by that car
It was hard to know his life had come to an end

In his small grey casket he laid as if sleeping
His small body was in a perfect sweet repose
His little Brown suit had not one tiny wrinkle
His right hand was holding a pretty Red Rose

Pete and I were such good friends I remember
We were together the biggest part of every day
It was at his house or at mine you could find us
In Summer we loved to both swim and to play

Nearly Seventy years have now passed me by
I know from up in Heaven He watches over me
I'll be united with my friend Pete one bright day
When God calls and my friend again I will see

As the sands of the hour glass drain
So does this time we have on Earth
God has given us a life to know Him
Time to show Him what we are worth

Wrought with sin when we are born
He went to the cross to save our soul
He took the blame for all of our sins
He cleansed us and made us whole

His love spreads deep within my heart
All His words are held inside my mind
Only believing in Him will save my soul
We know that Jesus is gentle and kind

We shall meet there one glorious day
In that land where we never grow old
There we will live in a marble mansion
See streets that are made of pure Gold

Golf In Heaven?

I want to walk by that Silver stream in Heaven
One that flows so docile onward to the Blue sea
There to meet my sweet Lord and my Master
In His loving arms, There I eternally want to be

Never will you find a greater friend than Jesus
In His heart you find your name engraved there
Everyone should feel the love He has for them Knowing they can ever be in His Heavenly care

A night is never so dark that He cannot find you
If you ask He will show you a way to go up There
In His beautiful mansion you shall live eternally
Along with our Lord we will never have a care

In Heaven no soggy golf courses will we see
For everything is perfect, it was made by God
No spike marks on any of the mowed Greens
See the fantastic beauty that lays over His sod

If you have never walked beside our Lord
Do you have an idea as to the reason why
We know He invites us all to be with Him
Up there where the rivers never do run dry

His Heaven can be shared by you and me
It will be so breathtaking beautiful up there
We will live eternally in that wonderful Clty
There we will live without troubles or care

If you believe in His word and obey Him
He can give you both the light and way
Always remember to confess your sins
Each time you kneel down and you pray

In His Rose Garden Is where I meet Him
It's early when the dew is on the ground
With a smile on my face I will tell Him
You are the greatest friend I ever found

Politely, but firmly He then answers me
My son I love everyone and not just you
Those who choose to believe in my word
Will have the beauty of Heaven to view

Never doubt these words He has spoken
If you want to see that city beyond the sky
Always obey each one of His Comandments
Then rest assured that your Savior is near by

Why would you want to miss His promise
He has told you I am the light and the way
Ask Him, if you can get up to His Heaven
Ask Him tonight as you kneel and you pray

Will You

Will you know Him when the rapture comes
Will you be standing in Heaven by His side
To see the world ravaged as we know it now
Will you have that wonderful place to reside

Only Heaven will protect you from all harm
It will be the only place that is free from sin
Make sure that today you get to know Jesus
For with the Holy Savior a new life will begin

We were born into this Earthly life as sinners
Jesus died on the cross to save a sinner's soul
Dying for all of our sins on that shameful day
Yes the Lord died that day to make us whole

Only the devil will say there is a better place
But it is not believed by any intelligent man
Jesus is there for me in His Heavenly home
I will follow His word and keep with His plan
