Emotions

So many emotions a lifetime will bring
Cries of the baby wakes a sleepy dad
Although he needs a good night's rest
Birth of their first child makes him glad

A mother worries about her only son
He has been away for a year in the war
Praying to God to keep him from harm
Dreaming of him in her arms once more

A freckled face boy who is now twelve
Dreams of the ballgame he has today
Perhaps he will hit a grandslam homer
Or save the game with a defensive play

An old man looks upward toward Heaven
He thanks God for all he has had in this life
With five children who have all been good
But most of all for his sweet and loving wife
